XLRI Jamshedpur is a contemporary and student-centric campus offering a relaxing and fulfilling environment for development and learning. The campus is fully residential with good facilities like smart classrooms, a state-of-the-art library, computer laboratories and Wi-Fi.  The green and peaceful environment offers an excellent ambiance for focused academic life.

The hostels in XLRI are well-furnished and have separate facilities for male and female students. Every room is provided with basic amenities like a bed, table, chair and cupboard.  The hostels also feature laundry facilities, television rooms, indoor games and reading space. Students are provided with clean drinking water electric power and security round the clock.

Dining requirements are fulfilled by clean and student-oriented mess halls offering a range of foods. Also on the property are a café, a medical centre, sports facilities, a gym and entertainment spaces.

Campus Design And Facilities

All foreign exchange students (subject to availability) are housed in the XLRI student homes together with normal students. They would also dine in their respective dining halls. XLRI's student residential facilities consist of four homes with more than 400 rooms in total. The apartments are well equipped with facilities like phones, water filters, geysers, coolers and common areas, which make the students feel at home.

Infrastructure and Additional Amenities

The Academic Block

Air-conditioned lecture halls, an exam room, a computer centre and syndicate rooms are all housed in this building. All of these spaces share access points to the campus network.  Classrooms  Twelve cutting-edge classrooms equipped with multimedia presentation tools. The seating pattern is amphitheatre-style and each of the two lecture rooms accommodates 70 students. Lectures can also be recorded and replayed in these classrooms via closed-circuit television. The four Syndicate Rooms are multi-purpose rooms for assorted academic pursuits.

The Sir Jehangir Ghandy Library

Established in 1949, the XLRI Jamshedpur Library was renamed in honour of Sir Jehangir Ghandy in 1972. It is housed in a large, centrally air-conditioned building and is the information centre of the institute. The library supports academics, students and researchers with a vast collection of around 63,000 volumes, 16,000+ bound journals, 485 periodical subscriptions, 24 online databases, 14,000+ dissertations and various multimedia and government documents.

The library is also completely automated through the use of RFID technology, facilitating self-service check-in and check-out. Its digital Knowledge Portal provides one-click access to a vast array of print and online content, including databases like ProQuest, JSTOR, EBSCO and CMIE. Additional specialised services like research support, document delivery, curriculum support and user orientation are provided to assist with academic and research productivity.

Computing Resources

Equipped with its cutting-edge IT infrastructure, XLRI is one of India's most technologically equipped B-schools. Equipped with a 10-Gigabit-ready network and WAN connectivity of 68 Mbps, the campus is fully Wi-Fi enabled.  Intranet services, mail, and library access are facilitated by high-end servers for key programs such as Oracle, SAP, SAS, SPSS and DB2.  Students are provided with laptops and constant access to online study material, such as discussion boards, grades and course content.

In its labs, classrooms and offices, the institute boasts over 300 PCs, projectors, scanners, printers and security systems. XLRI also offers VoIP phone service and video conferencing through IP-enabled EPBX. XLRI aims to develop technology-savvy managers who are ready for the digital workplace in its Center for e-Business and ERP training through SAP.

Computer Centre

The computer labs of the Computer Centre are furnished with:

•  The newest servers (IBM, Sun Microsystems, HP, and Acer) for intranets, proxy servers, internet gateways and many applications.

• Customers can avail themselves of software and hardware support via an exclusive helpline.

• The hostel has a printing station for centralised network printing.

• There is a scanning and photocopying facility.

The Student Residences

There are more than 400 rooms spread over four hostels at XLRI. The Residences consist of two hostels for males (the St. Thomas Men's Residence and the Fr. Enright Men's Residence) and two hostels for females (the Nilima Acharji Women's Residence and the Mother Teresa Women's Residence). The residences are fitted with facilities like telephones, water purifiers, coolers and lounges to make it a homely atmosphere. All the homes are provided with access points that link them to the local area network and other network services and facilities.

The Institute offers excellent residential accommodations for students of the General Management Program. Both family apartments and self-contained, air-conditioned single rooms are available at the GMP residential complex. The rooms are equipped with 24-hour internet connections. A student can opt for a single room or a family room of his/her choice. The GMP bungalow is encircled by a gigantic green park towards the west and the Dalma series of blue hills towards the east, with the shining Subernarekha River flowing in the north and the family home on the south. The GMP flat has a separate kitchen facility serving a variety of mouth-watering dishes.

Auditoriums

There are also three modern, air-conditioned auditoriums on campus. Two of the auditoriums seat about 150 people. These auditoriums are used for internal student functions and visiting faculty lectures and seminars, including the very prestigious XLRI Student General Body Meetings. The Tata Auditorium, which is the biggest, accommodates about 1500 persons and is known in music circles to have one of the finest acoustic systems in the country. The Annual Convocation, the Ethics Oration and an ensemble performance of music and art by the top Indian and foreign connoisseurs are all held at the Tata Auditorium. It has witnessed a vast array of notable people visiting the campus over the years.

Sports Facilities

Over a period of sixty years, XLRI has made the slogan "A sound mind in a sound body" a reality through its management education. Students are thus enriched with the use of international-quality sports facilities like an evergreen grass football field, a floodlit tennis court, basketball courts and a beach volleyball court. The S C Sarkar Gymnasium, newly equipped, has world-class indoor badminton facilities along with fitness equipment. Aside from the amenities on campus, swimming pools, squash courts and a synthetic athletics track are also available within close proximity to campus through arrangements with local sporting authorities.

Medical Facilities

There is a visiting physician available every day on campus at set times. There is round-the-clock health care provided through access to the prestigious Tata Main Hospital, an 850-bed modern multi-disciplinary hospital that is just one km away from campus. Students and professors have access to top-notch medical facilities at the hospital.
