XLRI Jamshedpur provides different management programs to students from different academic and professional backgrounds. Some of the major programs are the two-year flagship Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) in Business Management (BM) and Human Resource Management (HRM), a 16-month Executive EHRDM, Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) and different online and weekend programs.

Admission to flagship PGDM-BM and PGDM-HRM programs is mainly through the Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT), which is conducted by XLRI. Candidates need to register for the XAT and apply separately to XLRI. Admission depends on XAT performance, academic record, professional experience, and personal interview and group discussion performance.

Applicants to the Executive PGDM (General) should have a bachelor's degree and a minimum of five years of full-time managerial experience. Admission is determined by an in-person interview after performance on the XAT, GMAT or GRE.

The Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) is for research and academic interest. It offers specialisations in a range of topics such as economics, marketing, finance, etc. One needs to be a postgraduate and hold a valid test score from the XAT, UGC-JRF, GRE, GMAT or GATE. Academic qualifications, test scores and a personal interview are taken into account during selection.

XLRI also offers weekend and online programs like the PG Certificate in Business Management and PG Certificate in Human Resource Management. These programs are for working professionals and are offered through virtual classrooms.

XLRI Jamshedpur Admission Criteria for PGDM (Human Resource Management)

Eligibility Criteria

• A recognised bachelor's degree of at least three years duration or equivalent, in any discipline. Applicants may also be those who finish their final examinations by June 12, 2025.

• All Indian applicants can take the XAT 2025. However, overseas applicants, PIOs, OCIs and NRIs may apply using their XAT or GMAT results.

Selection Criteria

The registration fee for XAT, GMAT and GRE

• Indian candidates who register through XAT 2025 pay ₹2200 and ₹200 for each additional XLRI program.

• NRI candidates are required to pay ₹5000 for one or more programs.

Shortlisted Candidates

• The provisional names of the XAT and GMAT shortlisted applicants will be released by January 31, 2025.

Interview schedule

• HRM candidates will be scheduled for online interviews using the XAT and GMAT between mid-February and March 2025.

XLRI Jamshedpur Admission Criteria for PGDM (Business Management)

Eligibility criteria 

• A recognised minimum of three years' bachelor's degree or equivalent in any field.  Candidates finishing their final exams on or before June 12, 2025 are also eligible.

• Candidates from India are welcome to take the XAT 2025. However, overseas students, NRIs, PIOs and OCIs may apply using their XAT or GMAT results.

• Candidates for the Executive PGDM (General Management) Program may use their XAT 2025, GMAT or GRE results from December 1, 2021, to December 31, 2024.

•  For the XAT 2025, any Indian applicant may apply. Foreign applicants, NRIs, PIOs and OCIs may apply using their XAT or GMAT results.

Submitting through GMAT/GRE/XAT. Requirements for GMAT and GRE Candidates

• GMAT and GRE candidates have to appear for their respective exams from December 1, 2021 to December 31, 2024. Indian candidates applying through XAT 2025 will be required to pay ₹2200 and ₹200 per subsequent XLRI program.

• Foreign and NRI candidates applying through XAT 2025 ₹5000 [For one or more program(s)].

• Indian applicants through GMAT/GRE: ₹2500 [Only for PGDM(GM)]

Shortlisted Candidates

• Shortlisting of GMAT/GRE candidate names will be done by the last week of January.

• Shortlisting of XAT candidate names will be done by the last week of January.

Interview Process

• GMAT/GRE interviews will be held in many rounds from September to December 2024, while XAT PGDM (GM) interviews will take place online in February.

XLRI Jamshedpur Admission Criteria for Executive Diploma in Human Resource Management

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must have completed at least three years of full-time coursework towards a bachelor's degree in any field from an accredited university.

• A minimum of five years of full-time work experience following graduation, preferably in management roles, as of December 31, 2025.

Selection Criteria

• Eligible candidates who have registered for the program will be shortlisted and invited to an interview (by virtual platform). Interviews will decide the final selection of the candidates.

XLRI Jamshedpur Admission process for Fellow Programme in Management (FPM)

Eligibility Criteria for FPM

Students must have completed 10+2 (higher secondary education) with at least 60% of the possible points (or 50% for SC/ST students) and have at least two years of experience in related job in order to be considered for admission to the FPM.

                                                                    OR

After completing class 12 or equivalent, the candidates should complete a graduation bachelor's degree or its equivalent with a minimum of 60% marks and for SC/ST 50%. They should then undertake a postgraduate degree (MBA/Master's degree in any field) from a university or centre of higher learning in India or outside with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates).

                                                                 OR

A four- or five-year integrated master's degree in any subject with a minimum of 55% marks (50% in the case of SC/ST candidates) after 10+2 or equivalent higher secondary education,

                                                              OR

a professional qualification by DA like CA, ICWA or CS with a minimum of 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates).

Selection Criteria

These routes should be followed by eligible applicants to get admission into the FPM program: 

• Route 1 (XAT) 

Appear in the XAT exam, which is organised by XLRI in India. The XAT exam will take place on January 5, 2025.

• Route 2 (alternate test)

 Provide the recent UGC-JRF/NET, GMAT, GRE or GATE scores.

• Route 3 (MBA/PGDM)

Admission requirements for XLRI, IIM, FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, XIMB, IRMA, SP Jain, TISS, ISI or any management school/department of an IIT include a two-year full-time PGDM/MBA or equivalent degree and a CQPI of at least six on a scale of eight or higher.

XLRI will shortlist applications through either of the three processes mentioned above on a merit basis. Shortlisted candidates must show up for a face-to-face interview at the XLRI Jamshedpur campus in order to be considered for the final selection.

XLRI Jamshedpur Admission process for Executive Fellow Programme in Management

Eligibility Criteria

• An MBA, PGDM, GMP/PGPX or a one-year full-time residential program in management (with 60% marks) is required of candidates for the XLRI EFPM.

• Candidates ought to be employed full-time at the moment. 

• possess a minimum of five years of full-time experience in administration, research, teaching, or executive positions as of March 31, 2025.

Applicants who will Not be eligible

• Applicants for the EFPM cannot be degree, diploma or certificate holders who have pursued correspondence, private appearance, part-time or satellite-based programs.

Selection Criteria

• All such application forms will be scrutinised by an independent Screening Committee consisting of representatives from the Fellow Programme Committee and their respective fields of specialisation.

• Between March and April 2025, shortlisted candidates must appear in person for an interview at the XLRI campus in Jamshedpur in order to be chosen. The programme will start in June 2025.
