The Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) conducts the computer-based automated Graduate Management Admission Test or GMAT. The test is available for candidates applying for master's degrees in business management or an MBA. The test-takers of GMAT can register themselves in business or management courses at top-notch business schools around the globe.
GMAT 2025 will assess an individual's reading, writing, quantitative and analytical and critical thinking skills. Based on the latest version of the GMAT, GMAT Focus Edition (GMAT 11th Edition) 2025 is shorter than the earlier one taking two hours and fifteen minutes compared to three hours and seven minutes.
Understanding the GMAT Focus Edition
In order to get admission to more than 7000 business school programs provided by more than 2400 universities globally the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) developed the GMAT exam emphasis edition. Registration for the GMAT Exam-Focus Edition commenced on August 29, 2023 and the exam was initially available on November 7th, 2023.
In order to cater to the demands of top business schools and the diversity of courses and programs available around the world the new format of GMAT has been carefully developed in an effective and responsive manner. The GMAT Focus Edition is a computer-adaptive test that is essentially identical to the existing GMAT exam and can be undertaken at home or in a test centre.
The price of the GMAT exam in India is USD 275 for in-person takers and USD 300 for online takers. The location of the candidate and the format of the test that the candidate wants may have an impact on the cost of the GMAT test.

What’s New in GMAT 2025?
The GMAT exam recently underwent some of significant changes which are listed below for the candidate’s reference:
A new version of the test which was previously referred to as GMAT Focus Edition was rolled out on November 7, 2023 and the registration for it began on August 29, 2023.
The previous version of the GMAT (10th Edition) was formally phased out after January 31, 2024. Only the updated version will be accessible as of February 1, 2024.
Quantitative Reasoning (QR), Verbal Reasoning (VR) and Data Insights (which has taken the place of the former Integrated Reasoning section) are the three portions that make up the new GMAT.
Deleted Sections & Topics.
The Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) is no longer included in the test.
The Verbal portion no longer includes Sentence Correction (SC) questions.
Geometry is no longer examined in the Quant section.
Other Notable Modifications
The exam is now only two hours and fourteen minutes long instead of three hours and seven minutes.
The scoring range is from 205 to 805 (previously it was 200 to 800).
You are not required to answer sections in a predetermined order. You can pick the order that is best for you.
There is now a Review & Edit function through which you can bookmark questions you are not sure of and when you have done the section, you can return to review them. But you can only alter 3 answers in the process.
Name Update
Since July 1, 2024 the term "Focus" has been removed from the name. It is simply known as the GMAT Exam now.
ID Requirement Update
As of June 11, 2025 Aadhaar card will not be used as an ID for the GMAT Online test.
No matter if you are taking the test online or at a test centre you are required to provide a valid passport as identification proof.
Eligibility Criteria for the 2025 GMAT Exam
Educational Qualification: There is no specific educational requirement specified by GMAC to appear for the GMAT. But you must have completed your graduation from a recognised university. Additionally, ensure you fulfil the eligibility guidelines of the business school or university you wish to pursue management education from.
Maximum Age: To take the test you must be at least eighteen years old. You can still take the GMAT between the ages of 13 and 17 but you will need to have formal consent from a parent or guardian.
Work Experience: It is not a must to have work experience to sit for the GMAT. However, certain business schools may give preference to candidates with work experience as it can enhance their chances of being selected.
Number of Attempts
You can sit for the GMAT a maximum of 5 times within a year.
You can sit for it a maximum of 8 times during your lifetime.
If you get a perfect 800, you will have to wait 5 years before sitting for the test again.
Reservation Criteria: Special reservation is not category-based but there are special arrangements for candidates with disability.

Step-by-Step Registration Process
Step 1: Visit mba.com the official website of GMAT. Click on "Create an Account" and provide your email, password, full name and other details.
Step 2: After your account has been created click on "Exams" at the top and then choose "Register" for GMAT Focus Edition.
Step 3: Provide your personal details to finish your GMAT profile.
Step 4: Confirm your profile details.
Step 5: Select your preferred test center for GMAT Focus Edition.
Step 6: Select your date and time slot according to your convenience.
Step 7: Make the payment of the registration fee through a debit card, credit card, net banking or NEFT. Once you make the payment you'll receive a confirmation e-mail.

GMAT 2025 Exam Scores
In GMAT Focus Edition 2025 all three sections Quant, Verbal and Data Insights are scored out of 60 to 90. The overall score is 205 to 805 in steps of 10. It depends on the number of questions answered, the right answers and the difficulty level of the answers. There is a score precision margin of 30–40 points.
