The Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) admits students to its premier Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management through a tough multi step selection process.  The selection process is designed to spot individuals with excellent academic ability, leadership skills and generalist abilities suited to a fast paced corporate world.

Entry into IIM Kozhikode starts with the Common Admission Test (CAT) a national-level entrance exam conducted by the IIMs. Candidates have to register and appear for the CAT in the year of admission. IIM Kozhikode does set specific sectional and overall percentile cutoffs which themselves differ considerably every year based on the pool of applicants and category (General, NC-OBC, SC, ST, EWS, PwD).

Candidates who fulfil the minimum CAT cutoffs are shortlisted using the Composite Score (CS) which comprises CAT scores, Class 10 and 12 academic performance, work experience, gender and academic diversity considerations. The selected applicants will be called for the personal interview and written ability test. 

The last merit list is prepared by evaluating candidates on the basis of their performance in PI and WAT, CAT score, education background, work experience and diversity factors. More emphasis is given to PI performance so candidates should have good analytical and communication skills.

IIM Kozhikode Selection Procedure for PGP

IIM Kozhikode's selection criteria have 3 stages and below we have mentioned the specifics of the three phases.

Phase 1: Candidates Registration on Meeting Eligibility Criteria

All applicants who chose IIM Kozhikode in their CAT application and who fulfil the necessary minimum eligibility requirements will receive a link to register online for admission. Additionally, only candidates who successfully complete IIMK's online registration process are considered for Stage 2.

Phase 2: Shortlisting Candidates for the Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI)  

Those who fulfilled the prerequisites for stage 1 of the registration phase are eligible to participate in phase 2, which decides which candidates will be eligible for PI. A selection of applicants with an Aggregate Index Score (AIS) is created for each category. The Aggregate Index Score is calculated using the performance in the category of Gender, academic diversity criteria for the exam CAT, Class X, Class XII and other work encounters. Phase 3: Final Shortlist IIMK

The candidate who reached stage 3 has to appear for the writing ability test and personal interview. After that a merit list was created that made on the basis of their CAT, PI, WAT and resume. The admission in the course is offered to those candidates who appear on the merit list by the GOI (Government of India) reservation policies.

IIM Kozhikode Selection Procedure for PGP-Finance

To get admission to the IIM Kozhikode PGP-Finance a candidate has to go through the three stages that are mentioned below. 

Phase 1: Registration of Candidates meeting the Minimum Eligibility Criteria

Phase 1. Candidates applying to IIM Kozhikode must meet the minimum eligibility criterion listed below. To apply for CAT 2025, candidates must have a positive scaled score in all categories.

1. Candidates must receive at least 60% of the possible points in order to graduate. 

The candidate's graduate degree or equivalent qualification. A minimum of three years of study after completing higher secondary school (10+2) or equivalent.

2. Candidates who have passed the CA, CMA (ICWA), or CS exams must have at least 50% aggregate marks regardless of whether they have a graduation degree or not.

*The percentage of marks in classes 10 and 12 will be calculated using the total scores of all subjects on the grade sheet or marks sheet regardless of whether the board takes them into account.

Phase 2: Shortlisting for the Writing Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI)

All qualified applicants who finished the Stage 1 registration process are eligible to participate in the Stage 2 process, which determines which candidates will be invited for a personal interview (PI). Phase 3: Final Shortlist

The candidate who reached stage 3 now has to appear for the WAT and PI. The IIM Kozhikode merit list would be created after the completion of the PI and WAT processes taking into consideration the job experience, appropriateness, PI and GMAT/GRE/GMAT scores. The Government of India's reservation policies would offer admission to the candidates on the merit list.

IIM Kozhikode Selection Procedure for Post-Graduation Program in Liberal Studies and Management (PGP-LSM)

To get admission to the post-graduation Program in liberal studies and management the candidates have to go through the 3 stages and all three steps are mentioned below. 

Phase 1: Registration of Candidates Meeting the Eligibility Criteria

Stage 1 Candidates for graduation or postgraduation degrees must receive an overall grade point average of at least 60%.  After completing higher secondary school (10+2) or its equivalent the candidate must have studied for at least three years to earn their graduate degree or similar certification.

Stage 2 Candidates who qualify for CA, CMA (ICWA) or CS but do not hold a degree must have received at least 50% of the possible points in their CA, CMA, ICWA or CS exams.

Stage 3 candidates must have valid CAT, GRE and GMAT scores from January 2025 to December 2025 (inclusive).  All CAT 2025 parts should have a positive (above zero) scaled score for applicants who are submitting using their CAT scores.

In the second round, the score of AIS is used to form a list of candidates for the reservation category. The aptitude test results (CAT/GMAT/GRE*), academic standing, professional background, academic diversity score and gender diversity score are used to calculate the AIS.

In this phase all those candidates who are on the shortlist are required to attend the written ability test and personal interview. After that a merit list is formed on the basis of PI and WAT along with the AIS score. IIM Kozhikode Selection Procedure for Post-graduation Program in Business and Leadership (PGP-BL)

To get admission to the Post Graduate Programme in Business Leadership (PGP-BL) at IIM Kozhikode a candidate has to go through the three stages that are mentioned below.   

Important Dates

Phase 1: Register for the IIM Kozhikode PGP-BL program

The PGP-BL program admissions procedure will be divided into many different stages. In Stage 1 all candidates will be required to meet the following minimum qualifying criteria.

 Minimum Eligibility Criteria:

• A minimum of 50% or a comparable CGPA in graduation (any discipline).  Postgraduate (any discipline): CA/CMA (ICWA)/CS.

• A minimum of 4 years of work experience* following graduation.

• GMAT/GRE/CAT

 All applicants who meet the minimal qualifying criteria listed above are eligible to apply for the IIM Kozhikode PGP-BL program. The admission process to the PGP-BL program will be divided into many mutually independent parts. For each phase only applicants who have finished the registration process by the deadline will be taken into consideration. Please keep in mind that this (Stage 1) is a preparatory stage, not a request for personal connection.

Only full-time, remunerated work experience following graduation will be considered.  Part-time jobs, projects, internships, articles and pre-graduation are not recognised work experience.

 # Candidates may choose CAT/GRE/GMAT as their eligibility score (within the last three years).  IIMK recognises GMAT Focus edition scores for admission to the IIMK PGP-BL program, but GRE/GMAT/home exam scores are not acceptable. The deadline for work experience for all three cycles of the PGP-BL 07 batch admissions is March 31, 2026.

The IIMK PGP-BL code for GMAT is "D3Z-SQ-80" while for GRE it is "ETS 4748."  Students who apply using the GMAT/GRE codes must transmit their scores directly to IIMK.  Verification will be based on their authentic GMAT/GRE score report from Pearson/GMAC or ETS.

Phase 2: Candidates have to Submit an Extra Personal Statement

All the candidates who are qualified for the stage 1 registration process are eligible to participate in the stage 2 process.

In accordance with the program's concept and mission, we rely on an intensive process of conversational engagement, among other things to choose the final group of participants who are invited to join the program. As part of the assessment, the candidate must provide an additional personal statement.

• Statement of Goals: The PGP-BL Programme at IIM Kozhikode consists of both individual and collective learning components.  Knowing the candidate's personal aspirations, both long and short-term will assist the Institute in comprehending the candidate's career aims start a dialogue and contributing to the design of the learning experience. Phase 3: Candidates shortlisting for the Personal Interaction (PI)

Shortlisted candidates must attend a personal interaction. During the PI process, the panel will evaluate each candidate's performance based on the quality and character of their work experience, diversity, leadership abilities, social sensitivity and multidimensionality among other factors. The panel will look for candidates who have strong oral and writing communication abilities and the capacity to think critically.

Personal interactions (PI): The personal interaction is proposed to take place in person or via video conference depending on the conditions and application numbers received. The dates for PI will be communicated individually. Tentative list of cities where PI is expected to take place

IIM Kozhikode Selection Procedure for Business Management Studies (BMS)

Phase 1: Apply Online

Applicants first have to register themselves for admission into the IIM Kozhikode BMS program.

Phase 2: Eligibility Requirements

For admission into the BMS program of IIM Kozhikode, applicants have to fulfil the following eligibility criteria:

• Candidates should have cleared the Class XII examination or should have a diploma after studying for ten years in any stream that is approved by the concerned Government of India boards.

• Candidates should be in a position to produce original mark sheets/certificates by August 1, 2025 in order to qualify for admission.

• Admission to the program will be on the basis of earlier academic performance, scores obtained in the entrance test and personal interview.  

Phase 3: Entrance Test

The applicants are required to appear for the IIMK BMS Aptitude Test (IIMK BMS AT) 2025, which consists of two sections that test the applicant's verbal and quantitative skills.

The test shall be conducted in a multiple-choice style at approved test centers.

The test shall be computer-based.

Phase 4: Exemptions from the Entrance Test

Applicants with legitimate JEE (Mains) scores or legitimate SAT or ACT scores are exempted from IIMK-BMS AT. Such applicants will be shortlisted based on the test scores as reported. Official test results at application time should be shown by such applicants.

Phase 5: Shortlist for Personal Interview

Shortlists of applicants in each category will be prepared on the basis of Aggregate Index Score (AIS). The AIS is computed using test results, Class 12/Diploma or equivalent academic accomplishment and Class 10 grades.

Phase 6: Personal interview

Shortlisted candidates are required to attend the personal interview (PI).  IIM Kozhikode will conduct in-person interviews in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai, Chennai and New Delhi. The whole procedure will take half a day, either in the morning or the afternoon. Candidates will be evaluated by the panel during the PI process based on their academic performance and disposition, awareness and social disposition, attitude, demeanour, communication skills and general programme fit.

Phase 7: Final selection

• After the Personal Interview (PI) a final score will be computed from the interview scores, standardised test scores and the candidate's past academic performance in written exams as mentioned. 

• A merit list for each category will be prepared on the basis of final scores.

• Candidates will be provided admission in accordance with their merit list following the reservation policy of the Government of India.
