XLRI Signs an MoU with IFQM to Bridge the Academia and Industry Gap in Quality Management Education

XLRI Jamshedpur has partnered with IFQM - Indian Foundation for Quality Management in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for enhancing and delivering quality management education to all the students as well as linking them with classroom learning through implementing real-world industry practices. The primary motive behind this tie-up is to equip the students with practical knowledge as well as train them in order to lead Indian companies including small and medium enterprises.

New Programs from June 2025 

From June 2025 XLRI will introduce fresh electives in quality management for postgraduate students. The courses will have live projects, industrial visits, actual case studies and guest lectures by IFQM experts. The XLRI faculty and IFQM professionals will collaborate on designing and delivering the curriculum.

Main Focus on Results and Actual Impact

Addressing the event XLRI Director Dr. (Fr.) Sebastian George stressed that the need is to act beyond the signature on the agreement. The event was held at XLRI's Jamshedpur campus and began with a welcome address by Dr. Dipankar Bose, Associate Professor of Production, Operations and Decision Sciences at XLRI. The dignitaries who attended included Mr Soumitra Bhattacharya, CEO and Director of the Indian Foundation for Quality Management (IFQM) as well as senior managers Mr R. K. Shenoy, Mr Jayakumar M, Mr Nagabhushan M, Mr Samir Banerjee, Mr Sampath Krishnabhat, Mr Ankur Gandotra and Dr Pankaj Kumar, IFQM counsellor. 

Ms. Tripti Srivastava, Head of TQM and CQA, and Mr. Peeyush Gupta, Vice President of TQM, GSP, and Supply Chain, represented Tata Steel. Dr. Sanjay Patro the Academic Dean at XLRI, Dr. J. Ajith Kumar, Associate Dean of Fellow Programs and Dr. Abhishek Chakraborty, Chairperson of the PODS area were present for the ceremony. It ended with a tour of the campus marking the beginning of a practical and impactful collaboration focused on quality and innovation in education.
