IIM Jammu Wraps Up 5-Day Hindi Typing & Word Processing Training for Staff

The 5-day short-term training (Validation Course) in Hindi Word Processing/Hindi Typing for its staff was successfully completed on August 10th by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu under the guidance of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu. The program ran from August 4th to August 8th, 2025 under the direction of Shri Santosh Kumar, Assistant Director of the Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Hindi Teaching Scheme, Gangyal, Jammu, who served as the designated expert resource.

IIM Jammu Wraps Up 5-Day Hindi Typing & Word Processing Training for Staff

Throughout the program, students were taught Hindi word processing/typing, handwriting, letter writing and preparation of data.

Dr Ashish Kumar Isher (Hindi Rajbhasha Adhikari IIM Jammu), Prof. Shyam Narayan Lal,(the chairperson of the Media and Publications Division) and Cmdr Kesavan Baskkaran (the Chief Administrative Officer) attended the farewell ceremony.

Prof. Shyam Narayan Lal, Media and Publications Division Chairperson, IIM Jammu and Chairperson, Anandam: The Centre for Happiness stressed the need for such training sessions in the current professional environment. He further stated that the acquisition of Hindi typing and its usage is more than an exercise in language it is a skill that enhances efficiency, accuracy and accessibility in administrative and academic work.

He also added that these capacity-building actions facilitate inclusivity, break down communication barriers and maintain India's language heritage in terms of cultural diversity at the institutional level.

Cmdr. Kesavan Baskkaran, Chief Administrative Officer, IIM Jammu expressed his gratitude to Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jamm for his constant encouragement and support and said that during his leadership the institute has introduced a number of initiatives for propagating progressive use of Hindi in line with the Government of India's Rajbhasha policy. He highlighted that through such measures, a big contribution is being made towards maintaining and promoting the national language in professional and academic life.

These training sessions are a significant and commendable move towards enhancing the effective application of Hindi in the administrative and academic processes of the institute.

They not only enhance the language skills of employees but also equip them with the technical skills needed to seamlessly insert Hindi in official letters, documents and electronic communication.

The fulfillment of this curriculum reaffirms IIM Jammu's dedication to the development of language proficiency, promoting progressive use of Hindi and the creation of a culture of efficiency, diversity and national pride in all of its academic and administrative endeavours.
