The Indian Institute of Management Bangalore offers a diverse range of programs for its students. These programs have different competitive, multi-step admission process that selects applicants on the basis of academic merit, test performance, work experience, diversity and performance in interviews and written exams. The institute offers a range of programs such as MBA (PGP), Executive MBA (EPGP), PGP in Business Analytics (PGPBA), PGPEM (Weekend MBA), BBA(DBE), PhD and the NSR Pre-doctoral Fellowship.

For MBA and PGPBA, the candidates have to take the CAT exam whereas the EPGP takes GMAT/GRE scores. PGPEM programs take more than one test score like CAT, GMAT, GRE or IIMB's own test. The BBA(DBE) program takes CUET (UG), JEE Main or the IIMB DBE Test. The doctoral program takes CAT, GMAT, GRE, GATE, NET or IIMB Test scores.

Shortlisting is performed on the basis of exam cut-offs and academic merit followed by Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) phases. The final selection is based upon a composite score that takes into account test scores, academic record, work experience, diversity and interview performance. Each program has its own eligibility criteria, admission schedules and evaluation parameters.

IIM Bangalore Selection Criteria for PGP and PGPBA Through CAT 2025

Eligibility Criteria for the PGP and PGPBA  Program at IIMB 

Given below is the eligibility criterion for the postgraduate program in management and the postgraduate program in business analytics at IIM Bangalore. After fulfilling this criteria, the candidate qualifies for the other phases of IIM Bangalore PGP admission 2025 and other programs of the institute. 

• A candidate must have a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50 score or its equal CGPA (45 per cent for ST, SC & PWD/DA categories). 

• Those students who are currently in the final year of their bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification exam or awaiting their results can also apply for the PGP or PGPBA program at IIMB.

Reference Letter for the PGP and PGPBA Program at IIM Bangalore 

The student's application will not be completed until they provide two online reference letters. These letters are accepted if they are from a past or current employer or a professor from a previous academic institution. The students are required to provide the contact details of the referees like their contact number and email. The reference letters should be submitted before the application deadline for the program. Only the application form with the reference letters will be accepted. 

Phase 1: Initial Shortlisting of the students based on CAT Scores

The first phase of IIM Bangalore MBA admission 2025 for the PGP and PGPBA  program is the shortlisting of the students based on their CAT exam scores. For this they have to submit their CAT exam scores through an online application form. After that the students who meet the sectional cut-offs for the CAT exam will be shortlisted for the second phase of the IIM Bangalore admission process. The minimum CAT percentile cut-offs are given below:

Note: Only those students will be shortlisted for the second round who will get the minimum score in each section of the CAT exam. 

Pre-Interview Score Calculation for the Candidates

For the shortlisted candidates their scores are calculated before they appear for the personal interview round. These scores are calculated based on the parameters given below:

Important Points
For the calculation of work experience the formula is:

• = 10x/36 if 0 < x < 36

• = 10 if x >= 36 (Here X is the work experience).

• Apprenticeships, internships and unpaid employment will not be counted.

• The candidates who have work experience and professional courses (like CA/CS/ICWA), the higher score among them will be taken into consideration. 

Additionally, the top 10 candidates in each category (based on CAT, graduation scores and professional course scores) will automatically qualify for the interview round of the admission process.

Phase 2: Personal Interview and WAT

Shortlisted candidates will be called for a Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) on the same day. WAT will examine how effectively candidates can communicate in writing.

At this stage, the Stage 1 work experience score out of 10 is reduced to 5. Subsequently, it is again multiplied by a "quality score" (rated 0.25 to 2 by every member of the interview panel) in order to calculate the final work experience weight.

Phase 3: Final Selection

Once the interview round is over, a final composite score is calculated on the basis of the weightages given below: 

Note: CAT score 2025 in this stage is broken into - VARC: 8.75, DILR: 10, QA: 6.25. Based on these scores the final admission list is prepared for admission into IIMB management programs.

Reservation Policy

IIM Bangalore adopts the Government of India's norms of reservation for EWS, NC-OBC, SC, ST and PwD categories.

Admission/Selection Procedure for Executive Post Graduate Program in Management (EPGP) at IIM Bangalore through CAT 2025

Eligibility Criteria for the EPGP Program at IIMB 

In order to apply for the EPGP at IIM Bangalore, candidates should:

• Possess a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% for SC/ST/PwD candidates).

• Possess at least 5 years of full-time work experience subsequent to your graduation (ideally less than 12 years) as of March 31, 2026.

• Have a valid GMAT or GRE score on the date you apply. Scores of the GMAT/GRE test taken at home (online version) will not be accepted. (Use IIMB's codes to forward your scores: GMAT: Q9H-KK-84 and GRE: 1675).

Two online reference letters 

It is required from an employer or someone familiar with your work. Referees' details need to be filled in the online application. Referees will receive an email and are required to send the reference directly online within the deadline. Your application can only be submitted once both reference letters are uploaded.

Admission Process

Stage 1: Online Application

• Complete and submit the application form on the IIMB EPGP website.

• Pay the non-refundable application fee online.

• Students whose IIM Bangalore applications are complete will only be considered. 

• The shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview.

Stage 2: Final Selection

Once the interview is conducted the candidates are given a composite score based on their Academics, GMAT/GRE score, Quality of work experience, Performance in the Written Ability Test (WAT) and Interview performance. Offers are given on the basis of scores, availability of seats and minimum cut-offs defined by the admissions committee.

Important Dates (EPGP 2026–27)

Note: Interviews are carried out in Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. For foreign candidates, interviews will be conducted online. Candidates can submit applications only in one round applying for more than one round will result in disqualification.

Reservation Policy

IIMB adheres to the reservation policy as decreed by the Government of India for EWS, NC-OBC, SC, ST and PwD groups.

Disputes

All legal issues pertaining to admissions under the EPGP will be tried in courts at Bangalore alone.

Admission/Selection Procedure for Post Graduate Program in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM) at IIM Bangalore through CAT 2025

Eligibility Criteria for the PGPPM Program at IIMB 

To qualify for the PGPPM Program at IIM Bangalore candidates should have:

• Graduation degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks (or equivalent CGPA). For the candidates who come from SC, ST or PwD categories for them minimum marks needed are 45%.

• Minimum full-time work experience of 5 years (post-graduation) as of July 31, 2025. Ideally, the candidates' work experience should be in public policy. 

Note: Internship or part-time work shall not be considered.

Admission Process

Candidates after the successful submission of the application form will appear for the entrance tests like CAT/GMAT/GRE OR IIMB Test. the candidates who secure the minimum cut-off will be shortlisted for the next round of the admission process which is the personal interview round.

Interview Process

Shortlisting of the candidates for this round will be based on academics, work experience, test scores and interest in public policy.
After that the shortlisted candidates will appear for an interview in Bengaluru or New Delhi and complete a case analysis on the interview day

Admission/Selection Procedure for Bachelor of Business Administration in Digital Business and Entrepreneurship BBA(DBE) at IIM Bangalore through CAT 2025

Eligibility Criteria for the BBA(DBE) Program at IIMB 

• Nationality: The applicant should be an Indian national.

• Class 10 (or equivalent): Should have a pass certificate from a known board.

• Class 12 (equivalent): General, NC-OBC and EWS candidates should have a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA. The SC, ST and PwD (with disability of 40% or more) should have a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent CGPA.

Admission Process 

BBA (DBE) at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore is a three-year undergraduate program that incorporates business, entrepreneurship and digital technology. It is an undergraduate course designed for students seeking to become startup entrepreneurs and future business leaders.

Ways to Apply for the BBA(DBE) Program at IIMB

Aspirants can apply through one of the following two options:

• Option 1: IIMB DBE Entrance Test

Take the IIMB DBE Entrance Test 2025 held by IIM Bangalore. It is a computer-based examination conducted at designated centres all over India.

• Option 2: Report CUET or JEE Main Scores

Aspirants can also apply by reporting scores of any one of the following examinations: CUET (UG) General Test (Section III) only for the years 2023, 2024 or 2025 or JEE Main for the years 2023, 2024 or 2025.

Important Notes:

• Only CUET Section III (General Test) will be accepted.

• Subject-specific CUET tests or JEE Advanced scores are not accepted.

• It is sufficient to submit any one of the valid scores if the candidate is applying through this avenue. 

• The submission of a test score does not assure admission. It ensures just the beginning. The final choice depends on the applicant’s overall application and clearing the cutoffs.

Selection Process

• Based on the test taker’s performance in the IIMB DBE Test / CUET / JEE Main, IIM Bangalore will shortlist candidates.

• Only students who meet the cut-offs (as decided by IIMB) will be offered admission.

• If selected, the test takers will receive an email with details on how to pay fees and confirm their seat.

Program Fee Structure

The overall cost for the 3-year BBA (DBE) program is ₹4.5 Lakhs paid in instalments in every term (3 terms per annum). There is a 50% concession in fee for SC/ST/PwD students.

Note: Students may exit after Year 1 or Year 2 with a certificate/diploma if they prefer. If a student goes on break, they have to pay a ₹1,000 continuation fee per term until their return.
